Texas Schools are Teaching to the STAAR Test
The reason Kids Fail the STAAR Tests:
1. The STAAR tests have errors. The released 5th grade 2013 STAAR test has many errors. TEA will not acknowledge this. Student grades on the 5th grade 2013 STAAR test need to be changed.
2. The STAAR test writers are purposely making the test questions complex by adding unnecessary information. This is suppose to be adding rigor. The STAAR test writers seem not to understand what rigor is.
3. The Texas Education Service Centers sold CSCOPE instruction materials that are still being used by a large percent of Texas Schools. The CSCOPE materials were never vetted, yet the previous Texas Commissisoner of Education as well as the present commissioner allowed this material to be sold to Texas Public Schools.
4. The Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) control what most public school administrators and school board members do. Thus, most Texas schools have joined TASA/TASB in their goal to overthrow the Texas Education System and implement their Vision Learning Program, which is nothing more than giving students uncontrolled access to internet information.
This is one of the goals of the TASA/TASB’s Vision Learning
” We (families, schools, churches, youth organizations, etc.) cannot control access to information by the young and recognize that once existing boundaries no longer exist. “
To all Parents and Texas Citizens, you have the power to improve Texas Education. Contact your state representative and your state senator–insist that any and all common core/common core related materials be removed from Texas schools. Insist that the present common core take over of Texas Education by Pearson, the ESCs, TEA, and TASA/TASB be stopped and removed. These groups have already transformed Texas Education. They use terms, such as Vision Learning, 21st Century Technology Education, etc……. Insist that the STAAR and EOC testing be stopped until an investigation can be made on the validity of these tests.
Note that TEA is part of the groups listed as transforming Texas Education. TEA is working against itself. Actually, there are many retired superintendents hired by TEA whose loyalties are with TASA/TEA and the ESCs. Thus, Texas no longer has a state education association with a focus on educating your children. Bill Gates has invested millions of dollars to transform education across the US. Common core is one of the GATES programs. Thomas Ratliff represents Bill Gates transforming programs. Thomas Ratliff is one of the members of the Texas State Board of Education Members. Ratliff is paid to implement the TASA/TASB technology program in Texas schools.
Think about this:
Kids have no textbooks
Kids are not taught phonics
Kids cannot write in script
Kids click a mouse for a computer instead of reading books, writing, etc……… You do not know what your children are reading on the web.
TASA/TASB doesn’t want parents to restrict student access on the computer. NO Boundries!!! Students decide what they want to learn.
Schools are even encouraging students to twitter and add comments on Facebook during the school day.
Are your kids being encouraged to add negative comments for political candidates? This is happening in Magnolia ISD, a Texas public school. There is a heated school board race and students have been encouraged to tweet comments against one of the candidates—the candidate that the principal and other administrators do not want on the school board. The tweets were made during the school day. The principal’s comment about this was that kids can tweet during their free time at school.
Why are students tweeting and adding comments to social media during the school day?
21st Century Learning promotes technology–kids are to use computers–they do not need to learn how to spell or write.
With textbooks, kids learned to read a section of the book and answer questions. They learned how to look back through reading to find answers to questions. Thus, reading was done in every class, not just during “a Reading class.”
We have to put a stop to what is called “21st Century Learning,” which is to have students only using computers– Computers are a tool–a good tool.
If students are going to teach themselves via computer:
There is no need for certified teachers; Why send kids to school when they can learn on their home computers?
STOP the STAAR TESTS and the entire crooked cycle of Texas Education falls apart. No STAAR– No need for CSCOPE/TRS—no Need for Pearson–TASA has nothing to transform–WOW! No STAAR. It would be like waking up in a time when teachers could actually prepare lessons and children would learn to read, write, and do math.
STOP the STAAR and clean out the rats nests in TEA, the SBOE, and the ESCs. Have the biggest reduction in staff ever.
Now to make this fantasy education system better–fire most of the superintendents–not sure a school districts needs them, but if so pay them a reasonable salary.
Yes, a test to assess progress of students is good. But, the STAAR is not a good test and the whole system is crooked.
STOP the STAAR testing NOW! STOP collecting data on our children. STOP labeling them by race. When are we going to put a stop to segregating students? How many blacks passed the test? How many whites? How many browns? How many others? Now we have how many multiple races? This American Mexican social studies is just another way to drive wedges between the people in America. How about just having history of every country. I am not going to refer to anyone as African American. They have to be one or the other -not both. It is a way to divide our country. I want it to stop!
The STAAR testing is hurting Texas education. Let’s stop this testing and concentrate on getting our education system cleaned up–clean out the garbage and bring in traditional standards.
Common core is in our schools just under different names, such a CSCOPE and now TRS.
STOP STAAR and START Educating our kids.
