Support HB #760

Print Friendly

Representative Toth's HB #760Contact your state representative and senator. Ask them to support House Bill #760 by Steve Toth.

This bill will result in curriculum to be reviewed by the SBOE as are text books.

Senator Patrick has already forced CSCOPE lessons to be reviewed.

By passing HB #760 all future curriculum will have to be approved by the SBOE.

THE CSCOPE TRANSPARENCY ACT’ HB 760 will call for oversight for e-learning material/curriculum within our public schools.  Presently Texas has a curriculum in 70% of our Texas schools called Cscope that has no outside oversight. The curriculum contains controversy lessons and the creation on the non-profit Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative (TESCCC) who owns Cscope is up for investigation.

It is imperative that you call and ask your state legislatures to support this important piece of legislation, HB 760.

  1. Thank you Janice for clearly answering Debra’s questions – facts back up what you are saying. The feds “agenda” is quite disturbing! Research the facts – you will see that Bill Ayers is beind the “common cause educational agenda” to instill & teach communist / social values and dumb-found those “young minds” – that IS his and obama’s goal. AND they know that most teachers, like Debra’s comments indicate, are detail-thinkers, concerned about the particulars they are allowed to teach vs. thinking on the “summary” level. These types of teachers need a “summary thinker” canvassing truth, ethics and overall American morals (that are fastly slipping away) to present the “overall American conept” …

Please Support HB 158 & HB #760 – and CALL Steve Toth – he will tell us direction. Remember the Legislature is NOW in session – we MUST overturn this crap and obama’s goal to have the UN in control. (Funny how he must always be campaigning – WHEN is he going to return to the White House to RUN the country?? Or maybe we should be glad that he is NOT there – although it is quite disgusting that while WE are trimming ALL of our budgets just to survive, he and Mishoo are travelling EVERYWHERE – in separate planes of course (because of their muslim faith) to VACATIONS, VACATIONS everywhere – and separate travels of course (VERY expensive for 2 planes). DISGUSTING!

I have asked Dan Patrick for his input on http://www.texansdeservegreatschools.org/ – who purport some false points (kids have to stay in a “failing” school) when TEA says parents can immediately remove their child from a failing school … ARE these people behind the CSCOPE beliefs? I don’t know, but I will find out.

Do NOT give up teachers, parents and concerned citizens! Press on to seek the truth and DEMAND that education be provided for our children under the ethics, morals and beliefs of our America & the U.S. Constitution and our Judeo Christian beliefs – NO OTHERS.

  2. Debra Smith says:

CSCOPE is aligned with the TEKS. Are there problems with the TEKS? Also If we need to look at CSCOPE and approve each and every lesson, should we not approve every book, workbook, resource book, brought into a classroom by a teacher. Teacher spend vast amounts of money on additional resources they feel will help their students master the TEKS. They buy from teacher supply stores, online products, etc. Should each individual have their materials reviewed before placed in a teacher supply store and each file approved by SBOE before it uploaded online for purchase? Should Ms. VanCleve have each of her products reviewed by SBOE before she can sell them to educators to use in their classrooms? Can’t have your cake and eat it too.

    • Debra,
I would gladly allow my books to be reviewed by the SBOE.

Texas Education Service Centers are at the bottom of all of this. CSCOPE is suppose to be a supplementary material, such as are my books. But CSCOPE directors had teacher sign a gag-order if they wanted to work. Clifton ISD gave teachers a choice–follow CSCOPE to the letter–no books, or resign. This puts CSCOPE in a different category than books one might buy at a teacher supply. It is the control that CSCOPE managing system puts in place. Our superintendents are at fault for allowing their teachers to be brow beat by the ESCs.

Texas Education Service Centers are at the bottom of all of this. Contact your senator and representative and request that the ESCs not be allowed to sell any products. This will put a stop to CSCOPE and will not allow them to create any future materials.

Also ask your state senator to find out why the groups Texas Association of School Administrators and Texas Association of School Boards. TASA and TASB are being financed with school taxes and why these groups are investigating ways to implement the Obama common core curriculum in our Texas Schools.

Ask your representative to support Rep. Drew Springer HB 158 for family values.
