    This is the dumbest way of teaching teachers how to teach that I have ever seen. I am so glad that my children have finished all of their schooling. No wonder people are choosing to send their children to private, charter and homeschooling. I would do the same. I am an appalled grandmother. Shame on the state of Texas. Shame on you for wasting my tax dollars.

      • I have seen on the news where CSOPE has been recently used in teaching to indoctrinating children into Pro-Islam in some High Schools where female children are required to wear Burkas during school hours. Terrorism is being taught to replace the word “Terrorism” to “Freedom Fighters”

        This program (CSOPE) is now being funded by the Government, Governor Rick Perry has had the Texas Senate to write new bills to do away with this program at the State level, Teacher Unions have been fighting very hard to keep this in place, despite Teachers who do not like the program at all, in fact, many Teachers have resigned due to the power CSOPE has…I am afraid it will not be easy to dissolve the program, but at least we now know they are fighting the good fight. We need more and more people to become involved (in particular Parents with children currently attending K-12).

        Congratulations to my son, who is keeping a close eye on what my grandchildren are being taught, they are good kids and will tell him and their Mom without them having to ask, what is being taught to them. Many topics are not included in homework, as an intentional way to keep it from parents, he and Mom now re-teach their children as to what is right, not just what is controversial, but all subjects, especially American History. When all this “diversity” began when I found out as my son was in the last year of Middle School, he had been given a book to do a report on, the book was “My Two Mommies”. At that point in time, parents still had a say, thus I took a day off work to meet with the School. I don’t think they saw me coming, first the told me that was the school program set down by national Educational Standards. Eventually I found out there were other books on which he could do a book report. We choose the “The Grapes of Wrath”, although it was recommended for Jr. and Sr. through College age students. I explained to my son what the book was about, even though the book is more difficult to understand that the others being offered.

        Steinbeck was having a problem coming up with an appropriate title, with the help of his wife’s input, settled on the Grapes of Wrath. The title is a reference to lyrics from “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, by Julia Ward Howe:

        “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:
        He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
        He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
        His truth is marching on.”

        These lyrics refer, in turn,to the biblical passage Revelation 14:19–20, an apocalyptic appeal to divine justice and deliverance from oppression in the final judgment. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

        The phrase also appears at the end of chapter 25 in The Grapes of Wrath which describes the purposeful destruction of food to keep the price high: …and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage. The novel, by 1940 was a highly acclaimed work which earned the “National Book Award”, favorite fiction book of 1939, voted by members of the American Booksellers Association. Soon it won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

        Once my son began reading the novel, he loved the book and could hardly put it down and without any help, wrote an outstanding report on the book, which impressed his teacher and his councilor.
