My son attends the HEB ISD school systems. I didn’t see it on the list. He is in the 7th grade and HATES school at this point. From what I did read, many schools won’t offer information whether they have this in their school or not. Can you help?

    • Sheila,
You are correct, school districts have taken information about CSCOPE off their websites–this tell you that they are hiding the fact that they know that CSCOPE should be removed. So, why are our superintendents purchasing CSCOPE?
The fact that superintendents are supporting with your school tax money a private organization called TASA, Texas Association of School Administrators is part of the problem. TASA has proposed ways to transform Texas Schools. YES! A Private organization financed with school taxes to the tune of about 30 million dollars each year from all the school districts, is working against the Texas State Testing. YES!!! I am saying that your superintendent and school board members have signed a pledge to not support the state tests. This is part of the transforming of Texas Education.
Is your school part of this–Yes! So it doesn’t matter if your superintendent has purchased CSCOPE or not, he or she is not providing the direction that prepares kids for the STAARS. The reverse is true. For more about this, see

Also know that hebisd has CNN student news every morning. I am currently trying to get answers concerning this. My daughter just started attending 7th grade at hebisd.

        • Renee,
We are going to have to take back our schools. It is apparent that our school superintendents and school board members will do anything to get money.
In 1990 when I was teaching 6th grade science, a TV was hung on my classroom wall and it was to come on every morning for kids to see news. It came
on once and I did not approve of the information being shown, plus there were so many food advertisements. I unplugged the TV during my conference
time and my class did not view CNN news. Never heard anything about it because the administration was never in my area when the news was on. I said nothing to the kids or other staff.

Another money making item in public schools is the soda machine and some even have vending machines for snacks. The government money for meals is taken and kids dump their food in the trash and purchase pizza or other food sold at the school.
Schools are a business for making money. They have forgotten about educating kids.

          • Renee Lopez says:

I completely agree! I did send an email regarding CNN to the superintendent but have not heard back. I’d also like to add to your comment concerning nutrition. It’s interesting that with these changes in the fight for childhood obesity that the school rewards and fundraises with fast food. We have stacks of coupons for free kids meals at just about every fast food place in town that came in their report cards. I’ve suggested to the PTA about alternative fundraises but yet we keep having our children peddle cookie dough or chocolate bars each year.

My daughter had a truancy issue on tardies in 6th grade, she came home to let me know they had called these truant children to the office to meet with a truancy officer. What blew my mind was they actually offered these select group of kids a pizza party at IT’Z Pizza if they didn’t have any tardies or absences for the next six weeks. Sure enough, my daughter went to play games, ride go-carts and eat pizza with her friends compliments of HEBISD and our tax dollars. These are the transparent waste we see, it makes you wonder about all that we don’t see.
