CSCOPE Lesson About Terrorist Attacks
The CSCOPE lesson on terrorism was created 8/01/2010. This lesson was available to teachers during the 2010-2011, 2011-2012 school year. During the 2011-2012 school year, there were zero K-12 social studies lessons available for teachers.
During the 2011-2012 year, schools paid full fees for the CSCOPE product, but CSCOPE did not provide teachers with social studies lessons or a scope and sequence. While text books were being discarded in other subjects, social studies books were being used. It seems that the “old traditional” of using text books was acceptable since there were no “21 century” CSCOPE lessons available. But alas, CSCOPE did provide archive lessons, making the CSCOPE lesson on terrorism available.
At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, the archives of CSCOPE lessons were removed. The terrorist lesson is not included in the current CSCOPE instruction material.
Since CSCOPE is an online material that is not visible to the public, the terrorist lesson or something comparable can be added at any time.
While reading the CSCOPE Terrorist lesson, check out the information about the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers. Note that an extensive period of time is spend on discussing the Boston Tea Party as a terrorists attack and the infamous 9/11 attack is barely mentioned.
The Boston Tea Pary Terrorist Lessons was discussed at the State Board of Education Instruction Committee, Nov. 15, 2012.
